Computer engineer to become a major in computer science for the general?

Question

by Megan S
: Is it common for a Computer Science major to become a Computer Engineer?

The college I want to go to has a Computer Science program, but not a Computer Engineering program. Is it still common for someone with a BS in Computer Science to become a Computer Engineer? Or is it harder for someone with a CS major to become one than a CSE major?

Thanks for the help.

Yes more job opportunities with both degrees.

Personally I’ve never heard of someone going that way. In university, several computer engineering students ‘transferred‘ over to get a Comp Sci degree. And then in the workplace, I know of several Computer Engineers that went into development (which I view as more of a Computer Science discipline).

So I wouldn’t say it’s common. Possible, but not common.
