How to deauthorize iTunes on your computer?
Question
by BreadCollision: How to deauthorize iTunes on a computer?
Bought a new laptop and installed iTunes. When i tried to purchase something, it said I’d already authorized 5 computers and must deauthorize a computer in order to play things on my new computer. How do I do this? Simple steps, please. Thanks.
Also, must I delete the music and etc I have on the old computer (or transfer it) before deauthorizing, or can i still listen to and watch those downloads after it’s deauthorized? Thanks.

Open iTunes. Look under the drop down menu labeled Store. Select Deauthorize this computer. Follow the instructions.
You need make a back up copy of your library before you Deauthorize. You can put them on a CD/DVD or an external hard drive, or you might have to go back to the iTunes store and download them again. I don’t think the downloads or purchased music will work after you Deauthorize, but anything you imported from an original CD will.
