It won’t affect the computer unless it is overheating. The hardware will degrade faster but at such a rate that it doesn’t make a difference because it will still last far longer than you need it to.

If it’s a desktop, that’s ok. Most business use their computers more than 10 hours a day.

If it’s a laptop, it’s not ok. Most of them will overheat. This could your computer to not last as long.

Answer by Zack

it will be okay if you have a Mac,

but a Pc might ruin the battery if you have it plugged in to long

{all guessing you have a laptop}

It shouldn’t be too bad unless you have overheating which could damage the hardware.

I think also that your system could get ‘memory leaks’ from operating too long (not 100% sure) which can cause problems. It’s usually good to restart every now and then (every day is good for home computers) so you have a fresh environment.

It will be fine. I used to keep my laptop and desktops on for really long periods of time. Sometimes for weeks. Never had a problem. Now I use the 8 hour rule. If I know that I am not going to use it for 8 or more hours I turn them off. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Heat and dust(from the air flow produced from your cooling system) are your worst effects of this. The dust and dirt form and insulation, and the heat will fry your circuits. At least put it on sleep mode(or better yet, set it up to go to sleep automatically after 10 minutes of no activity).

no, but it will raise your electric bill

If it’s a desktop, you’re fine. You might run into more dust though.
