the air is to clean dust from the electronic parts so they stay cooler and don’t short out.
Answer by coopersj2002
cleans the cooling fans which become loud due to the dust on the blades.a 1″ paint brush can be used to dust the motherboard.make sure you power the computer off.also do the power supply fan,a few squirts will do..

It might free some dust off the fans causing it to vibrate, but it probably wouldn’t do much. If you want it to be quiet buy some quality fans (or water cool it).
Answer by Minister of Truth
Possibly. Accumulated dust could be causing the fan or fans to work extra hard in cooling your components. Also you could make it quieter by replacing the replaceable fans with high quality fans.

you should spray it anyway all the dust will give you problems sooner or later. the loud noise is a fan.. try to open up the computer and find out which fan it is then replace it

I only use air for one thing and a very important thing. You see the little fan spinning in the middle of the big board? Thats the CPU, the brain of the computer. It produces EXTREME amounts of heat and can fry without proper cooling. That why it has a big metal square with a fan on it. That big metal square with fins on it, is nothing but the heat sink, the cpu is a chip underneath that big square block of metal. That big block of metal is what conducts the heat away from the cpu and then the fan on it blows air into the fin passages to keep it cool. Once your cpu doesn’t get cool properly your computer starts locking up a lot randomly. If it really gets hot, then it can fry. Over time, the air has dirt in it and it fills the cooling fins up with globs of dirt. The globs of dirt prevent air from flowing over it and it loses its cooling effect. Your point the can of air directly in between the fan blades and point it and the fins and blow the caked in dirt out from in between the fins.
The power supply, the big square metal box at top of computer (where the electric cord plugs in) is the other thing you want to blow. There are holes on the opposite side of the fan (by the electric cord). The holes on the inside of where air is sucked into, those get clogged too. That big lint ball you can pull off the holes with your finger. But I shoot air in the fan blades (in back of computer) to keep the maximum amount of air going in there too.
Other than the cpu fan and power supply fan, there is no need to blow air inside the computer case, etc. That is just for cosmetic purposes.
