Question

by Z Z: How can I find out specifically what soundcard is in my computer? Do I have to open up my computer?

Also, how can I find out what motherboard I have in my computer? Do I have to open my computer up, or is this info stored somewhere in my computer?

I went into Device Manager and found what looks like my soundcard… but what would the motherboard info look like in Device Manager? I don’t know what I’m looking for… is is under System Devices?

press esc at startup and get into ur bios,that should tell u,if not go t to start,control panel,add remove hardware,on the web

Here’s a quick way to find out:

For Vista:

Go to Start 》Search Device Manager > Open up and there should be a list of devices. Go from there. I won’t go too deep into detail.

For XP:

Go to Start > Right Click on My Computer (to the right side) > Go to the third tab ( I’m not sure what it’s called coz i’m on Chinese version right now).

Click on the first button and you should see a list of devices. Again, I won’t go into detail, you should know where to go from there. it’s not rocket science.

I’m assuming you running an MS Windows operating sysem. Your sound card should be listed in the device manager under something like sound, video and game controllers. Good key words to look for are Realtek or Creative (popular sound card mfgs).

If you need information about your motherboard there is a terrific program I found that gives you all kinds of information about your computer. It’s called CPUID. Here is a link to the download:

You just have to unzip the folder by right-clicking and choosing extract files, then pick a location. For more info about CPUID you can visit there website here:
