Click on your “Start” button. Click “Run”. Type in charmap. If you scroll down in the Caracter Map, you will find the symbols.

Depending on the version of Windows you have, you probably need the Japanese IME (Input Method Editor) for your computer. It is a free download from Microsoft‘s website that will give you a little window where you can choose to type in Japanese.
You type by simple combining the English romaji letters to form the Japanese word you want. Then, the computer will convert it for you and you will have to choose the appropriate kanji, etc.
