: My computer is slowing down. I need to know how to make computer faster?

I got my computer for Christmas almost a year ago. Now it’s starting to slow down. I need to know how to make computer faster. It’s not that my computer is getting old, is it? I’d like to think that after only less than a year, my computer isn’t ready to be put out to pasture. They don’t get old, do they?

All technology gets old and dies eventually. It does not, however, in a single year. You can extend the life of any computer simply by buying a can of air and blowing all the dust you can out of the case. If you want to make your computer faster, you can take the software approach and defragment your hard drive. That usually helps when done every month or so. Go to the start menu, find “Accessories” then “System tools” and choose the defragment option. Let it run on every hard drive that shows up as an option, though you should unplug any flash drives you have connected first. Hardware-wise, you can purchase more memory if you can get someone to install it for you. It’s very easy. Cpu upgrade is a bit harder, but helps as well.

Perform a disk cleanup.

Working at an office, I was assigned to help employees get their computers cleaned and faster, and this one chick had over 15 Gb of junk that was cleaned through disk cleanup.

Go to Start, Accessories, Disk Cleanup and choose to remove anything you don’t need!

Computer hardware becomes obsolete fairly quick. This just means that better, fast, smaller, more productive hardware is available.

Just because a computer becomes obsolete, doesn’t mean it stops working. If you maintain your computer properly, it can run for a very long time.

You computer is probably slow for one of many reasons:

* You may not have a lot of RAM. Seeing as you got the computer less than a year ago… I would assume that’s not an issue.

* Uninstalling any programs that you don’t use anymore would be a good idea.

* Clearing your temp internet files is also a good idea.

* Run a disk defragment. This will defrag your hard drive, which means it’ll move files around and delete files left over pieces to programs that you uninstalled in an attempt to increase the read and write times of your hard drive.

* If you have a ton of music and videos, you may want to think about getting an external hard drive and transferring them to the external hard drive. This will free up hard drive space.

* DON’T download programs that claim to increase the speed of your computer. Most of the time they don’t work.

* If you have more than one anti-virus program, uninstall one of them.

having multiple anti-virus programs isn’t a good idea. Not only are anti-virus programs resource hogs (the use up a lot of RAM and CPU power) but the conflict with one another which while also cause a slow down.

* As a last resort, you can perform a clean install of your OS. This will delete all of your files, and you’ll have to install all of the drivers again, but it’ll run like it was brand new. If you do that, it’s recommended that you buy an external hard drive to back-up all of your music, photos, videos and other files that are important to you.

If you do all of that, and it’s still slow you’ll want to install more RAM.

Don’t worry; your computer isn’t getting old. There are other signs that would show that. The fan on your power box would be the first thing to go, and it would be making strange noises for a while before it went out. Even then, it’s not the end of your computer. It would become completely out of date before it actually died. What’s probably happening is that your registry needs some work done on it.

Here’s pretty much what’s going on. Your registry is like a library that holds all the files that your programs need to work. When your programs have a hard time finding these files, it takes longer to find them. If it goes much longer, it may not be able to find them at all. Then you start getting error messages.

This usually happens after you uninstall a few programs. They will often leave files behind in the registry, called “orphans.” They take up space, don’t do anything, and make it harder for your computer to find the files that actually work.

Even worse than that, the files might get damaged, and your computer won’t be able to use them. You will also get error messages. Your computer may even crash eventually.

The good thing about all this is that it’s now easy to fix these issues. It used to be that you had to go through the registry and look for the errors. You have to know what to look for, how to find it, and how to get rid of it. Even then, it’s a long and tedious process, since the registry has about as many files in it as the Library of Congress.

Now there are automated registry cleaning tools to take care of all that work for you. My favorite is at this website: http://optimize-your-pc.com/regcure/repairing_errors.php. Instead of taking about a week or even a few hours to fix your registry problems, it only takes a few minutes. Also, it’s as easy as pushing a button.

By the way, you should also run it again every few weeks to keep things running smoothly. Good luck!

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don’t always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

First, if you haven’t cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC’s resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

2. Click Start, click “Control Panel”, and then double-click “Internet Options”.

3. On the General tab, click “Delete Files” under Temporary Internet Files.

4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the “Delete all offline content” check box , and then click OK.

5. Click OK.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type “msconfig.exe”

4. In the “system configuration utility”,click either “service” or “startup” tab

5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

6. Click “OK”

Clean windows registry can speed up the computer.

Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software’s, install new devices,

download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system.

This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched.

Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.

Clean registry make pc faster.
